Description

When starting out and preparing the timber for spindle work at the lathe, you will nearly always need to rough turn the uneven shaped timber between centres down to the round to continue your work. This is where the Robert Sorby Roughing-Out Gouge comes into its own, also known simply as a roughing gouge. This gouge has been designed in such a way to carry out this task. The shape of the tool to cut safely with the wings (the name given to the tips of the side walls) well back from the work piece.
