The Padauk is a nice timber to turn on the lathe, as the timber is being turned and the waste removed you will notice the bright reddish orange colour. The colour can then be enhanced using the friction polish, which brings out the natural beauty of the wood.
The bright reddish orange colour will over time start to fade to a deeper darker shade, this could be slowed down by using the UV Danish oil or similar.
An ideal choice of timber for most types of woodturning products both between centres (spindle turning) and faceplate / bowl turning projects. Candlesticks, vases, trinket box’s, wine bottle stoppers and much more.
The spindle blanks can also be cut down to make pen turning blanks, knife handle blanks and for many woodworking projects
Pictures show the Padauk in the square (spindle blank) and a small turned bowl which shows how darker the colours can go, due to the nature of timber the shades and grain pattern may differ slightly between each blank
