Description

The Robert Sorby – Excelsior Roughing Gouge, better known as the roughing out gouge is the woodturning tool we recommend for the initial turning of uneven or square stock to round. The shape of the roughing-out gouge enables the tool to cut safely with the wings (the name given to the tips of the side walls) well back from the workpiece.

The Excelsior High Performance Spindle Roughing Gouge is Titanium Nitride coated for increased performance and resistance to edge wear. The cutting edge on these tools will outlast the normal bowl turning tools by a minimum of three fold.

The Spindle Roughing Gouge turning tool is supplied with the Robert Sorby signature wooden handle.
